Why did you choose your internship?
I chose this internship because it is related to agriculture. Also because I was very interested in the field of aquaponics. Lastly, because a classmate referred it to me.
What did you gain from your internship experience?
I learned how to manage a greenhouse. I learned how an aquaponic system operates. I learned how to maintain an aquaponics system and what purpose an aquaponic system serves.
What factors influenced your decision to choose this experience for your internship?
It was very interesting to me in regard to the aquaponics technology. My classmate spoke very highly of the supervisor of the internship (Dr. Rex). I also wanted to see what other applications there are for that technology.
What advice do you have for other students as they search for their internship?
Be sure to pursue an internship you are interested, don't just do it for the credit. Don't be afraid to ask your advisor for help finding an internship. Ask your friends and see if they recommend anything.
How has your internship experience influenced your plans for your future?
For one, I am now interested in the field of aquaponics, so that could be a potential career move. I have prior experience in greenhouses, this would allow me to look at regular jobs in greenhouses as well. I also may plan to farm by way of aquaponics in the future.
