Why did you choose your internship?
BioSurg, INC. is a veterinarian research clinic that specializes in testing cardiovascular devices. I chose my internship because of the opportunity to gain more experience handling large livestock. I also was interested in learning more about animal testing regulations and procedures.
What did you gain from your internship experience?
I gained hands on experience with large livestock and more knowledge on the agriculture and veterinarian medicine industry. I learned how to administer medications, perform ultrasounds and take vitals during and post-procedures. I was also able to develop personable and professional skills that will benefit me within my future career.
What advice do you have for other students as they search for their internship?
As you search for internship opportunities, be open to try new things. Being open minded and stepping out of your comfort zone will allow you to get involved in ways you might not have seen yourself doing. I did not picture myself as a veterinarian technician assistant at a research veterinarian clinic, however I took a leap of faith and it broaden my knowledge and experiences.
